San Carlos penthouse with sprawling indoor/outdoor space!

This 3,000 square foot mid-century modern penthouse with a massive wrap-around balcony is located in the heart of walkable San Carlos.  Steps from Laurel Street, Burton Park and the dog park at City Hall.  The versatile open floorplan is ideal for work/study from home, SIP and socially distanced entertaining.  Quick and easy access to 101, 280 and Caltrain.

Enter your new home through a custom double door that opens into an open and airy living room with a gas fireplace and open beam ceiling. Brilliant natural light from 7 skylights keeps your home bright all day long.  The east wall opens to the massive balcony with views of the San Francisco Bay and the East Bay hills.

The open kitchen/dining/great room is anchored by an island, second fireplace and wet bar with wine refrigerator.  The space basks in beautiful San Carlos morning sunshine and provides stunning unobstructed vistas that glow in the evening sunset. The Chef in the family will be in heaven with a five-burner gas stove, Frigidaire Gallery microwave with a matching stainless-steel Frigidaire side by side refrigerator. This flowing space will be the heart of your home providing a magical setup for indoor/outdoor living and entertaining.

Just beyond the kitchen is another flexible space with double doors that open wide to enable flow or close for privacy.  The room has its own sliding doors that open to the eastern balcony and can be accessed via the separate entrance in the back.  This is the perfect space for a dedicated home office, den or au-pair’s room.  This room is also adjacent to the dedicated in-unit laundry room with sink, closet and clothes drying area.

The master suite has a massive walk-in closet, en suite full bath with a stunning custom shower and freestanding soaking tub. There are two sinks, a dressing table and space for days.  The suite has its own private north-facing patio overlooking the pool and peaceful garden of trees.

The 2nd bedroom suite features its own full bath, large walk-in closet, and sliding doors opening to a private balcony on the west side of the building.

The 3rd bedroom has built-in bookshelves, 2 large walk-in closets, and sliding doors opening to the back balcony.   This room is perfect as a dedicated bedroom, guest bedroom or second home office.

The 3rd full bath has a shower and is close to the entertaining area for easy use by guests.

The home features tons of storage space with large bedroom closets, a coat closet, linen closet, pantry and more.  Large exterior storage closets are on the north end of the balcony.  Two dedicated storage closets in the building garage are conveniently accessed near your two indoor parking spaces.  The quiet central vacuum system makes cleaning a cinch and on warm summer days you will enjoy the added convenience of air conditioning.

This is an absolute one-of-a-kind home in the heart of Silicon Valley!

1700 San Carlos Avenue #301

San Carlos sets the bar high with its motto “the city of good living,” and families flock to the mid-Peninsula community for its highly ranked schools, thriving Laurel Street shopping district, and quaint feel.

The city of approximately 30,000 residents is located between Belmont and Redwood City. San Carlos is close to U.S. Highway 101 and state Route 82 and has a Caltrain stop that’s on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is also home to the San Carlos Airport and the Hiller Aviation Museum.  In 2010, the city dissolved its police department and now receives law-enforcement service from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
